Kurdish Mayor Jailed In Turkey For Supporting Kurdish Rebels
Kurdish Info 20.11.2008-A Kurdish mayor in Sirnak-Turkey was sentenced Thursday to 15 months in jail for urging support for Kurdish rebels in an interview with a French news channel last year.The court in Diyarbakir convicted Ahmet Ertak - the mayor of nearby Sirnak and member of Turkey's main Kurdish party, the Democratic Society party, or DTP, - under a provision penalizing diffusing propaganda for outlawed groups.

Reuters-U.S., Iraqi, and Turkish officials have held three-way talks in Baghdad, signaling a new joint effort to combat Kurdish rebelss who use Iraq as a base for strikes on Turkey.Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki received the Turkish delegation and promised to help Iraq's neighbor fight the guerillas of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK).
